Terminal A
Catania’s main terminal: 22 boarding gates (3 of them for non-Schengen flights), opened in May 2007 across two floors — arrivals on the ground floor, departures on the first. It holds all 50 check-in counters serving every airline at the airport, 12 security checkpoints, 6 boarding bridges, 6 baggage belts, 3 airline ticket offices, 2 ATMs, and both of the airport’s VIP lounges.
50 check-in and drop-off counters serve every airline operating at Catania, on the first floor. The airport’s two ticket offices — GH Catania and Aviation Services — are also in the Departures Hall.
12 security checkpoints. The Fast Track priority lane runs 04:30–22:00 and its entrance is on the Departures level — it exists only in Terminal A.
The Fontanarossa railway stop is a 600-metre walk away, or take the AMTS shuttle bus (every 10 minutes, 04:30–22:40, €1) that connects it to the terminal.
One of the PRM (reduced-mobility) intercom pillars sits at the Departures-level entrance, plus one at door 2 in Arrivals; a Sala Amica assistance room and reserved parking in P1, P3 and P6 are also here. Notify your airline 48 hours in advance to reserve assistance, or simply allow 2 extra hours before departure if you have not.
