Inside each terminal

Check-in, security, the station link and how to change terminals — verified against the airport's own pages.

Terminal

Ten scheduled carriers share Liverpool’s single terminal, led by easyJet, Ryanair and Jet2.com — all three treat LJLA as a base. The building traces to the 2002 rebrand that made Liverpool the UK’s first airport named after an individual, honouring Beatle John Lennon; the runway underneath dates to 1966, when Prince Philip opened its 7,500-foot extension.

Check-in

The official distance guide puts the check-in desks about 300 metres from the departure lounge, with the furthest gate roughly 200 metres beyond that — short enough that the airport’s own advice is simply to arrive two hours ahead rather than pad the walk.

Security

Liverpool’s Next Generation lanes drop the clear plastic bag, but not the volume cap: containers still top out at 100 ml each, unlike the 2-litre lanes now running at some other British airports. A paid Fast Track lane costs £6 online per person aged two and over; infants travel through free with a paying adult.

From the train & tram station

There is no railway station on the airport site. The nearest, Liverpool South Parkway, sits about three miles away and is reached on the 80A or 86A bus, which the airport says runs up to every 7-8 minutes — book rail tickets to “Liverpool Airport Bus” and the add-on covers that leg.

Changing terminals

A single building means no inter-terminal transfer exists to describe.

Accessibility

The airport is explicit that it has no jet bridges: aircraft parked away from the building are reached by accessible bus, and an Ambulift handles boarding wherever steps are not an option. Hearing loops sit at the assistance desk, check-in, security and departures, and a Sensory Space and Changing Place are available on request.
