Inside each terminal

Check-in, security, the station link and how to change terminals — verified against the airport's own pages.

Terminal

A single building — the largest of Jamaica’s three international airports by the operator’s own count — built for a peak of 4,200 arriving and departing passengers an hour on one runway, 07/25, 2,653 metres of asphalt fitted with an ILS on the 07 approach. Every flight, international or the four domestic aerodromes reachable onward by air, shares the same footprint.

Check-in

All check-in happens pre-security, on what the airport’s own shop directory calls the Ticketing Departures Concourse. Thirty-one international carriers fly from MBJ, from American, Delta, United and Southwest to Air Canada, Caribbean Airlines, Copa, Virgin Atlantic and the charter names — Condor, TUI Airways, Wingo — that fill Montego Bay’s resort traffic; onward domestic hops to Kingston, Port Antonio, Ocho Rios and Negril run on Timair and International Airlink.

Security

Liquids, aerosols and gels go in a single one-quart resealable bag, in containers of 100 ml or less — the airport’s own guidance says this follows the US Transportation Security Administration’s rules, which matters given how much of MBJ’s traffic is North American. Powdered items over 12 oz go in checked luggage unless it’s baby formula or medically necessary.

Changing terminals

One building, no inter-terminal transfer to plan for — but it is organised in two halves once you clear security, a Western Concourse and an Eastern Concourse, each with its own gates and shops.

Accessibility

Every washroom in the terminal offers a wheelchair-accessible stall, and wheelchair assistance is available at the airline check-in counters; special-needs arrangements are booked through the individual airline rather than the airport itself. Visitors need an Immigration Form, a Customs Declaration Form, a valid passport and — for non-residents — a return ticket.
