Getting around PIK
Glasgow Prestwick has belonged to the Scottish Government since it bought the airport in November 2013 “to protect jobs and safeguard a strategic infrastructure asset.” Everything passenger-facing runs through one terminal, served by a single scheduled airline, Ryanair, flying to 11 sun destinations in Spain, Portugal and Italy. The airport has its own railway station — a short covered walkway from the terminal, on the Glasgow Central–Ayr line — and, past security, an Elvis Presley Bar marking the terminal’s best-known fact: the airport’s own history page calls it “the only place where he steps foot in the UK.” In 2025 the CAA recorded 620,960 passengers here, a 15.9% rise on 2024.
