Passenger terminal
The name on the sign is Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, and the second half of it is the part travellers get wrong: Aena places the airport nine kilometres southwest of Alicante, inside the municipality of Elche. That is why the official taxis carry the Elche coat of arms rather than Alicante’s. Around 85% of its traffic is international — the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway lead the arrivals — while Barcelona, Madrid and Mallorca top the domestic list. Airports Council International named it the best in Europe in its size category in both 2023 and 2024.
There is no railway or tram platform at the airport. The C-6 bus is the link: it calls at Alicante’s railway station and meets the Costa Blanca tram at Luceros and Alfonso X El Sabio.
