Getting around ARN
Stockholm Arlanda, run by Swedavia, splits its four terminals into two pairs. Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 share a single train stop — “Arlanda South” — while Terminal 5 stands apart as “Arlanda North”, with Terminal 4 flanking SkyCity, the shopping and hotel complex between Terminal 4 and 5. Moving between the two groups is free: the Arlanda Express train covers Arlanda South to Arlanda North in about a minute, outside security. That same train costs money once it leaves the airport — 18 minutes non-stop to Stockholm Central — while the slower SL commuter train (38 minutes) still adds a separate SEK 157 station fee at Arlanda Central that funds the 1990s-built railway itself, not the airport. Security differs by terminal too: Terminal 5’s new “5F” lane uses CT scanners that let liquids stay in your bag, while Terminal 2 and 3 keep the one-litre-bag rule. In 2025, Arlanda handled 24.3 million passengers.
