Belfast International — Aldergrove to locals — is the busier of the city’s two airports: the CAA counted 6.68 million passengers here in 2025, close to three times the traffic of George Best Belfast City. The trade-off is distance. The airport sits 18 miles north-west of Belfast, and with no railway anywhere on site the Translink Airport Express 300 does the heavy lifting, leaving the front of the terminal for Grand Central Station every 15 minutes at weekday peaks and keeping an hourly rhythm through the small hours. Inside, one building serves four airlines — easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and TUI — security scanners already accept liquids in containers as big as 2 litres without unpacking anything, and the Causeway Lounge admits any traveller who books ahead or pays at the door.
