Getting around BTS
Bratislava Airport is the largest international airport in Slovakia, 9 km from the city centre — and only about 70 minutes by direct coach from Vienna, whose own airport many Slovaks fly from instead. Slovak Lines runs that direct service to Wien Hauptbahnhof, tickets from €7.90, alongside a shorter run into Bratislava’s own Nivy Bus Station. The single terminal complex is named after Milan Rastislav Štefánik, the Slovak general and aviator, and its lobby holds a full-scale replica of a Caproni biplane in his honour; passengers pass through Terminal A (Schengen, gates 1–8) or Terminal B (non-Schengen arrivals and departures). Two low-cost carriers dominate the board: Ryanair, which grew its based fleet here to four aircraft for winter 2026, and Wizz Air, flying to 32 destinations from Bratislava. The airport handled 2,438,215 passengers in 2025.
