Terminal 2A
The Schengen side of Budapest’s single passenger terminal. The 2A Platinum Lounge sits in the Schengen transit area hall, opposite gate A8 — and because Schengen-to-Schengen flights skip border control entirely, this is the faster side to clear on a same-area trip.
Check-in
Check-in counters for Terminals 2A and 2B are both on the (upper) departure level, and usually open two hours before departure; they close 30 minutes before the scheduled departure (40 minutes for low-cost carriers).
Security
Security screening across Budapest Airport takes under 10 minutes even at summer peak, according to the airport; it publishes a live wait-time comparison so passengers can see whether the T2A or T2B side is faster before choosing where to queue.
From the train & tram station
The nearest railway station, Ferihegy, is not inside the terminal: it connects to Terminal 2 by local bus 200E, with a 30-minute ride onward to Nyugati station in central Budapest.
Changing terminals
The SkyCourt links 2A and 2B on the mezzanine level and holds the airport’s largest lounge (SkyCourt Lounge, 270 m², run by Menzies Aviation) plus the Mastercard Airport Lounge — both reached from either side.
Accessibility
The PRM (passengers with reduced mobility) service is available regardless of airline, built around EU regulation (EC) No. 1107/2006: staff meet departing passengers at a designated call point and escort them from check-in through every authority checkpoint to the aircraft.

Terminal 2B
The non-Schengen side. The 2B Platinum Lounge is on the 2B side, on the mezzanine, reached only after passport control — the airport’s own definition of when that control applies (non-Schengen departures) is what places this lounge past it.
