Is Corfu Airport busy all year round?

Accepted Answer

No — it is one of the most seasonal airports in this project. The airport's own 2025-vs-2024 traffic report shows just 9,939 total passengers in January 2025 against 976,245 in August 2025, almost a hundred-fold swing between the quietest and busiest months. International traffic (4.18 million passengers in 2025) dwarfs domestic (443,000), so plan for a very different airport in winter than in summer.

Is there more than one terminal at Corfu Airport?

Accepted Answer

No. Corfu has a single terminal building — the airport's own bus and taxi pages call it "Terminal Building A" — so there is no risk of turning up at the wrong one. It operates every day from 00:00 to 23:59.

Question 3

What is the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) and does it apply at Corfu?

Accepted Answer

The EES is the EU's new border-management system, recording entries and exits of non-EU nationals on short stays. It went live on 12 October 2025 and is being phased in at external borders, with full implementation due by 10 April 2026. Greece is one of the participating countries, alongside Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and others — so non-EU travellers passing through Corfu's border control should expect the new checks.

Is there a lounge at Corfu Airport, and can anyone use it?

There is one: the Goldair Handling Lounge on Level 1 of the Extra-Schengen Area. It is only for departing Extra-Schengen (non-Schengen international) passengers who have already cleared passport control — not domestic or Intra-Schengen flights — and it does not run year-round: the airport publishes its operating period as 28 March to 31 October 2026, daily from 10:00 to 24:00.

How much cash can I carry through Corfu Airport without declaring it?

Accepted Answer

Under EU rules that the airport's own customs page sets out, carrying €10,000 or more in cash (or the equivalent in another currency) when entering or leaving the EU must be declared to customs in writing. Between two EU countries the same €10,000 threshold applies, but the declaration there can be made orally.

Where do I pick up a rental car or exchange currency on arrival?

Accepted Answer

Both are in the Arrivals, All Users area of the single terminal building: the car-rental counters (Avis Budget, Enterprise, Hertz Thrifty and Sixt), and OneXchange, the currency-exchange desk, which the airport says buys and sells more than 50 currencies, located specifically in the Baggage Reclaim area.
