Inside each terminal

Check-in, security, the station link and how to change terminals — verified against the airport's own pages.

Terminal

Wales’ own airport works out of a single terminal building for seven scheduled airlines — Aer Lingus, Air France, KLM, Ryanair, TUI, Vueling and WestJet, whose new direct Toronto route leads the current network. Of the airfield’s seventeen aircraft stands, only three (7, 9 and 10) are fitted with a nose-loader jet bridge; the rest are marshalled stands reached on foot across the apron.

Check-in

The check-in hall is the first thing past the main entrance, with screens above every desk showing which airline is calling passengers forward; most of the airlines here also offer online check-in a few days ahead.

Security

Next Generation Security went fully live in February 2026: liquids under 100 ml and every electronic item can now stay inside hand luggage through the scanner, ending the separate clear-bag-and-tray routine that some returning flights may still expect.

From the train & tram station

The nearest railway station carries the airport’s own name — Rhoose Cardiff International Airport — but it stands apart from the terminal building: the 905 shuttle bus links the two, running hourly and timed to meet every train, with a single through-ticket sold as the “Cardiff Air Bus” fare.

Accessibility

The PRM desk runs a 24-hour service on 01446 729329 for passengers who pre-book through their airline up to 48 hours ahead, backed by the Sunflower Lanyard for hidden disabilities, a contactless “Ramble Tag” guide for blind and partially sighted travellers, an adult changing bed with hoist on the first floor, and a multi-faith room with wudu facilities opposite the check-in desks.

One check-in hall for the whole airport — but only 3 of its 17 aircraft stands have a jet bridge, so most flights still board across the apron.
