Getting around DUS
Düsseldorf runs three piers — A, B and C — under a single terminal roof, linked to each other by transfer corridors and to the outside world by the SkyTrain, a driverless cabin railway on an elevated track. The catch is that DUS has two separate train stations: Düsseldorf Flughafen, on the east edge of the airport grounds, takes everything from S-Bahn to ICE long-distance services and needs a seven-minute SkyTrain ride into the terminal; Düsseldorf Airport Terminal, reachable only by the S11 line, sits in the basement of the terminal building itself, no monorail required. Pier A holds the Lufthansa Group’s own lounges, Pier B is home to the fast-track DUSgateway and a standing priority security lane, and Pier C is the non-Schengen pier with the Emirates Lounge. In 2024 the airport carried more than 20 million passengers for the first time since the pandemic and was, once again, Germany’s most punctual major airport.
