Inside each terminal

Check-in, security, the station link and how to change terminals — verified against the airport's own pages.

Main Terminal

Sir Basil Spence designed the terminal that opened on 2 May 1966; a second building, T2, followed in June 2004 to add check-in capacity. The airport’s own tally lists 20-plus airlines and over 100 destinations, and 17 carriers appear by name on its official airline list — from easyJet and Ryanair to Emirates, Icelandair and WestJet.

Check-in

Twilight Bag Drop lets easyJet, TUI and British Airways passengers on morning flights check bags in the evening before, at the main check-in hall — but Jet2.com’s version of the same service happens next door, at the T2 facility. Excess Baggage Company runs left-luggage storage in the main check-in hall.

Security

Liquids follow the standard rule: containers up to 100ml inside one resealable 1-litre bag. Plan to be at the airport 2 hours ahead for a UK domestic flight, 3 hours for Europe and 4 hours for long haul — security itself opens 3 hours before your flight, and gates are typically announced about 40 minutes before departure.

From the train & tram station

No trains call here at all — that distinction belongs to Prestwick, a separate airport further south. Instead the Glasgow Airport Express 500 bus covers the city centre in as little as 15 minutes, setting down close to both Glasgow Central and Queen Street stations; for a local train, Paisley Gilmour Street sits just over a mile away, a short ride on the McGill’s 757 bus.

Accessibility

A special assistance desk sits on the ground floor of the main check-in area; a lanyard scheme covers hidden disabilities, booked through your airline at least 36 hours ahead. The Changing Places facility, with a height-adjustable sink, hydraulic bed, electronic hoist and shower, is in the main check-in hall between WH Smith and Luggage Point.
