Inside each terminal

Check-in, security, the station link and how to change terminals — verified against the airport's own pages.

Terminal

Kerry has flown from a single terminal building since the airport opened, on a site the company Kerry Airport plc has run since its incorporation in 1968. The current 2,000m runway dates from May 1994; the terminal building around it has been extended since, but the airport has never split into separate numbered buildings — everything from check-in to the gift shop sits off one main concourse.

Check-in

The check-in area is in the main concourse. Kerry Airport recommends arriving at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure, and boarding gates close 30 minutes before departure — arrive after that and your airline can refuse boarding under its own booking conditions.

Security

Kerry already screens cabin baggage with Explosive Detection System (EDS CB) equipment, so liquids, aerosols and gels in containers up to 2 litres can stay in your bag — the standard 100ml rule that still applies at most airports in this project does not apply here. Hand luggage still has to fit the airline’s cabin allowance and the airport’s own size limit: 56cm long, 45cm wide, 25cm deep.

From the train & tram station

The nearest train station is Farranfore, 1.4 km from the terminal by the airport’s own measure — the site links straight through to Irish Rail for tickets and times, without stating whether the distance is walkable.

Accessibility

Kerry asks passengers who need assistance to tell their airline, travel agent or tour operator what they’ll require, giving two full days’ warning before the flight — the airport itself publishes the reservation numbers for Aer Lingus Regional and Ryanair so that call is easy to make. Arriving by car, pressing the Assistance Button at the Short Term Car Park entrance connects you to Customer Services, who direct you to a reserved disabled bay a short drive inside the barrier; taxi and bus passengers needing help are asked to go via the Information Desk just inside the terminal doors.
