Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport sits in Amausi, on the edge of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, and today it runs entirely through a single building: Terminal 3, whose first phase opened in March 2024 as a ₹2,400 crore, 8-million-passenger-a-year project — a second phase is already under development to push capacity to 13.7 million. In the 2024-25 financial year the airport carried more than 7.02 million passengers, making it India’s 11th-busiest. Digi Yatra face verification, E-Gates, an automatic tray-retrieval system at security and self-baggage-drop kiosks are built into that one terminal, and its art programme is not an afterthought: departures, security and arrivals each carry a different curated display of Uttar Pradesh’s heritage, down to the state bird in the arrivals corridor. Lucknow International Airport Limited, an Adani Airport Holdings subsidiary, has run CCSIA under a 50-year concession from the Airports Authority of India since November 2020.
