The fifth-busiest airport in the UK by the CAA’s 2025 count — 17.8 million passengers, up 4.9% on the year — runs its whole operation through one building. easyJet has been flying from here since November 1995, and with Wizz Air, Ryanair, Jet2 and TUI it powers a network of over 130 destinations in more than 30 countries.
Hold bags go to your airline’s bag drop desks in the check-in hall; with cabin baggage only you walk straight through to departures. Three carriers accept luggage the previous evening: Jet2 from 16:30 to 21:00 for flights before midday, easyJet from 18:00 to 21:00 and Wizz Air from 21:00 to 02:00 for departures up to 9am — free, if you checked in online first.
CT scanners mean liquids and large electronics stay inside your bag, with no plastic bag involved — but each container is still capped at 100ml, so the 2-litre allowance some UK airports advertise does not apply here. A free 30-minute Prebook Security slot can be reserved up to 4 days ahead (available 03:00–15:00), and paid Fast Track starts at £4 online or £8 at the kiosks.
The railway is not at the door: Luton Airport Parkway sits 2.3 km away, and the DART — an automated people mover that replaced the shuttle bus in March 2023 — covers the gap in under four minutes, day and night. An adult single is £4.90 (children 5–15 pay £2.45, under-5s ride free), and through train tickets booked to «Luton Airport» (LUA) already include it.
Ask your airline for assistance when you book, or no later than 48 hours before departure, and the Assisted Travel team will be expecting you. Every official car park has Blue Badge bays, and the hackney carriages at the taxi rank are fully wheelchair accessible.
