Getting around MVD
Carrasco has a single passenger terminal, opened in December 2009 to a design by Uruguayan architect Rafael Viñoly: a monolithic white roof that spans 365 meters, arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the floor above, each with its own vehicle access road. The building carried Montevideo to back-to-back wins as Best Airport in Latin America and the Caribbean in the Airport Service Quality survey run by Airports Council International — most recently for 2025, in the 2-to-5-million-passenger category, after the airport closed the year with a record 2,144,071 travelers. Everything happens under that one roof: domestic flights to Salto and Rivera check in at second-floor counters and board through a separate ground-floor gate 9, and the free Express Pass reserves a security-line slot from five hours down to 90 minutes before departure.
