Getting around NCL
Newcastle International is the North East’s gateway — 5.48 million passengers in 2025 through fourteen airline partners on a single terminal — and it settles the question every other regional airport gets asked: yes, the train reaches it. Not a shuttle bus standing in for one, but the Tyne and Wear Metro itself, with a station built under the terminal that puts the city centre 25 minutes away. Security here already runs next-generation CT scanners, so laptops and liquids can stay in your bag going through the machine, even though the 100 ml limit on containers hasn’t moved. Jet2.com and TUI, the two biggest names on the departures board, both offer evening-before bag drop for early flights.
