Getting around ORK
Cork is Ireland’s second-busiest airport and the international gateway to the South — one terminal, opened in 2006 to handle up to five million passengers a year, that carried a record 3.46 million through it in 2025 (Central Statistics Office, +13% on 2024). It is owned and operated by daa, the same group behind Dublin Airport, whose own site names Dublin Airport as its registered office. There is no railway station on the grounds: Kent Station in Cork city is reached by taxi (about €20) or by the Bus Éireann stop right outside the terminal doors. The airport’s single lounge is mid-transition too — the Kinsale Lounge is a temporary space next to the Food Republic food court, standing in until a bigger, permanent executive lounge opens in 2027. Security still runs the old 100ml liquids rule while new-generation scanners are built into an expanded screening area, due by the end of 2026.
