Getting around OTP
Bucharest Henri Coandă is run by CNAB, the Romanian state airport company that also owns the city’s older Băneasa airport. Instead of splitting airlines across parallel terminals the way London Gatwick or Manchester do, Henri Coandă has one Departures Terminal and one Arrivals Terminal — the same complex divided by flow, not by carrier — joined since October 2005 by an internal connecting corridor. The 2012 expansion of the Departures Terminal doubled the airport’s processing capacity to 104 check-in counters and 38 gates. Getting into Bucharest means picking between two separate fast options: a 24-hour train to Gara de Nord every 40 minutes, or the 100 Express bus (renamed from route 783 in December 2023) running every 15 minutes by day. In 2025 the airport carried 16,998,844 passengers, per Eurostat’s official EU air-transport statistics.
