Why is Palma de Mallorca Airport so much busier in summer?

Aena says it outright: traffic here is primarily international and reaches its greatest levels during the summer season, with Germany sending more passengers than any other nationality, ahead of Spain and the United Kingdom. It is a tourism airport by design, not by accident.

Do I have to leave the terminal building to reach my boarding gate?

Accepted Answer

No. Boarding happens across four modules — A, B, C and D — all entered from the fourth floor after the same security checkpoint, Aena says, with no exception for any of them. Module B is architecturally distinct even so: it is a separate building opened in April 2003 for inter-island and short-haul flights, whose upper-floor observation balcony (not the boarding area itself) is reached from the main check-in area over an airbridge.

Is the Formentor VIP Lounge open?

Accepted Answer

No. Aena’s own page for Formentor VIP Lounge, in Module D, is marked closed for refurbishment. The other four — Valldemossa, Llevant, Mediterranean and Mestral — are open, each reserved for a maximum scheduled stay of three hours immediately before departure.

Where do I catch a taxi, and has the pickup point moved?

Aena warns to use only the signed taxi rank at the terminal, floor 0 arrivals, and to ask for a receipt if you have a complaint. The rank itself changed on 4 November 2025: taxis now load passengers on the right side of the arrivals forecourt instead of the left, a redesign Aena made to remove crossing traffic between arriving and waiting taxis.

How many baggage carousels does the airport have?

Nineteen, one of them reserved for special baggage. Aena tells arriving passengers to check the screens for the carousel assigned to their flight rather than assume a fixed one.

Is there free Wi-Fi at the airport?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The network is called Airport Free Wifi Aena; the welcome portal that follows takes a guest email, an Aena Club login, or a fresh sign-up. Whichever you pick, there is a clock running: Aena caps that confirmation step at a quarter of an hour before the login has to be completed.

Which bus goes from the airport into Palma city centre?

EMT’s Route A1, one of three EMT lines that stop at the terminal (A2 runs to S’Arenal, and Route 34 to Son Espases hospital). EMT information is on (+34) 971 214 444. A separate coach, Aerotib’s Route A11, is the scheduled link to Camp de Mar on the south-west coast.
