Stansted moved 29.8 million passengers in 2025 — the CAA’s table makes it London’s third airport and the UK’s fourth — yet you never change terminals here, because there is only one. What moves is you: boarding gates sit in satellite buildings out on the airfield, linked to the building by the automated Track Transit System, and for Gates 1-19 that ride is one-way — no coming back to the shops once you board it. This is low-cost country: Ryanair leads a 17-airline roster ahead of easyJet, Jet2.com and TUI, check-in desks open on the airline’s clock (2 to 4 hours before departure), and the pre-dawn wave starts early. The escape hatch is under your feet — the railway station is directly below the terminal, with the Stansted Express reaching Liverpool Street in 48 minutes.
