Inside each terminal

Check-in, security, the station link and how to change terminals — verified against the airport's own pages.

Terminal 1

Trivandrum’s domestic terminal, established in 1932 as Kerala’s first airport and today sitting a short walk from Sankhumukham beach. Air India flies its domestic services from here; IndiGo splits between both terminals — check the airline’s confirmation or the terminal display for your specific flight before you set off.

Check-in

T1’s check-in desks line the departure hall at ground level; T2 follows the identical arrangement.

Security

CISF staff run the checkpoint: an X-ray belt for your bags, a walk-through metal detector, then a pat-down. BCAS sets the cabin-bag ceiling at 7 kilograms in a single piece no bigger than 55 by 40 by 20 centimetres — individual airlines are free to allow less — and insists power banks stay with you in that bag rather than in the hold; satellite phones and drones are barred from the aircraft entirely, cabin or checked.

Changing terminals

An EV coach now shuttles between the two buildings around the clock — though a separate FAQ elsewhere on TRV’s own site still tells travellers to take the prepaid taxi for a terminal change, so ask a staff member which is actually running before you commit.

Accessibility

A wheelchair-assistance desk covers Terminal 1 through three named airline contacts (IndiGo, Air India Express, Air India); PRM facilities include reserved parking and pick-up points, tactile flooring, an emergency wheelchair and a low-height flight-information display. TRV also offers the Sunflower Lanyard for hidden disabilities, available at both terminals’ departure-hall information desks.

Terminal 2

The international terminal, in Chackai. Air India Express anchors it alongside IndiGo’s international flights and six Gulf/Middle East carriers — Oman Air, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia, Gulf Air, Jazeera Airways — plus Malaysia Airlines, a concentration that mirrors Kerala’s large expatriate workforce in the Gulf.

Check-in

The departure hall here has its own row of ground-level check-in desks, laid out just like T1’s.

Security

The same 7-kilogram, 55×40×20cm cabin-bag ceiling applies here, but international travellers have two extra stops: Immigration on the way to the gate, and a Customs counter on departure for anyone carrying declarable valuables such as jewellery.

Changing terminals

The round-the-clock EV coach connects back to T1 — the Transit Guide calls it a recent addition, even as a separate FAQ on the same site still sends passengers to the prepaid taxi for the same trip.

Accessibility

The kerbside desk at Departure Gate 1 handles wheelchair requests; eight airline-and-partner contacts cover the terminal, including a single number shared by Emirates, Air India Express, Maldivian, Kuwait Airways, Qatar Airways, Scoot Air, Malaysian Airlines and Jazeera Airways. The Sunflower Lanyard for hidden disabilities is also available here.
