Getting around AMD
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport splits scheduled traffic across two terminals nine kilometres north of central Ahmedabad, in Hansol — Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international ones, joined by a free 24-hour shuttle that picks up from the “Drop & Go” area outside each terminal’s arrivals hall. The split just moved: from 29 March 2026 the airport consolidated Air India and Air India Express out of Terminal 1 and into Terminal 2, so IndiGo and Akasa Air are now the only carriers still splitting departures across both buildings by flight number. Two more buildings round out the site — a terminal for secondary traffic and a separate cargo terminal — neither open to scheduled passengers. In the financial year 2024-25 the airport’s operator reported 1.34 crore (about 13.4 million) passengers, a 14.8% rise on the year before.
