Getting around ATH
Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" is run by Athens International Airport S.A. (AIA), which has traded on the Athens Stock Exchange under the ticker AIA since 7 February 2024. Two terminal buildings serve passengers: the Main Terminal, split into Area A (non-Schengen, gates A1–A27) and Area B (Schengen, gates B1–B31), and the separate Satellite Terminal (gates C15–C40), reachable only through an underground link from the Main Terminal — about 15 minutes on the moving walkways from the corridor by check-in counter 70. The airport has its own station for both Athens Metro Line 3 and the Suburban Railway, built right into the Main Terminal. Inside it, at Entrance 3 on the Departures Level, a permanent exhibition displays 172 archaeological pieces unearthed nearby in Mesogaia during the airport’s own construction, on show since 2003. In 2025 the airport handled 33.99 million passengers.
