Getting around FRA
Frankfurt now handles passengers in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, with an awkward gap in the numbering: Terminal 2 closed on 9 June 2026 and its airlines moved to T3. The railway choice matters just as much as the terminal. Regionalbahnhof, below T1 on Level 0, is for S-Bahn and regional trains; Fernbahnhof is the separate long-distance station for IC, ICE and Lufthansa Express Rail/AIRail. T1 and T3 are linked by the free SkyLine train, running 4:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. every 2–3 minutes with an overnight shuttle bus from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.; budget 10–15 minutes for the transfer, the airport’s current train-travel page figure, not the eight minutes quoted when T3 opened. FRA handled 63,189,666 passengers in 2025.
