Inside each terminal

Check-in, security, the station link and how to change terminals — verified against the airport's own pages.

Terminal 1

The established passenger terminal for gate areas A, B, C and Z. Lufthansa currently checks in in Hall A. Terminal 2 is not an alternative: it stopped passenger operations on 9 June 2026.

Check-in

Lufthansa check-in is in Hall A, with Fast Bag Drop in zones 12–13. Use the airport’s Airlines A–Z directory for every other current hall assignment.

From the train & tram station

Regionalbahnhof is directly below T1 on Level 0 for S-Bahn and regional trains. Follow the separate long-distance-station signs for IC, ICE and the AIRail Terminal.

Changing terminals

The SkyLine runs 4:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. every 2–3 minutes, with an overnight shuttle bus between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Budget 10–15 minutes for the T1–T3 transfer — the airport’s current train-travel page, not the eight-minute figure quoted when Terminal 3 opened.

Accessibility

Request mobility assistance through the airline or tour operator at least 48 hours ahead. Free Sunflower lanyards are available from the T1 service and mobility points.

Terminal 3

FRA’s active south-side terminal, with gate areas G, H and J. Its first scheduled arrivals and departures operated on 23 April 2026, and all airlines formerly based in T2 are now assigned here.

Check-in

Self-check-in kiosks and Fast Bag Drop are available; travellers with excess, bulky or special baggage should use a staffed counter.

Security

Every T3 checkpoint uses CT scanners. The airport allows liquids in containers up to 2 litres and says laptops, tablets and cameras may remain in hand baggage there.

From the train & tram station

Both rail stations are on the T1 side of the airport. Continue from the station area to T3 using the terminal-transfer service shown by live signs.

Changing terminals

The SkyLine runs 4:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. every 2–3 minutes (overnight shuttle bus 10:00 p.m.–5:00 a.m.). The airport’s current train-travel page puts the T1–T3 ride at approximately 10–15 minutes — plan around that, not the eight-minute figure quoted when Terminal 3 opened.

Accessibility

Request assistance through the airline or tour operator at least 48 hours ahead. T3 has service and mobility points where the free Sunflower lanyard can be collected.
