Inside each terminal

Check-in, security, the station link and how to change terminals — verified against the airport's own pages.

Terminal 1

Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport runs from a single passenger terminal on a 3,110-metre runway shared with military traffic. Its own airline table and phone directory currently label this terminal “T2” — the site has not fully reconciled that with the “Terminal 1” name used across its check-in, parking, lounge and DigiYatra pages, which is the name used here. A newly built integrated terminal began commercial operations on 22 February 2026, lifting annual capacity to 13.1 million passengers with 21 domestic destinations and three international routes — Bangkok, Paro (Bhutan) and Singapore.

Check-in

Arrive two hours ahead for domestic flights and four hours for international ones. Self-check-in kiosks and self-baggage drop are available alongside the counters, and DigiYatra face verification at the terminal entrance speeds up the walk to security.

Security

CISF handles the screening, as at every Indian airport. India’s BCAS sets a single cabin bag under 7 kilos, its measurements staying inside 55 by 40 by 20 centimetres, though carriers can trim that further — check yours before packing. Power banks stay in the cabin and never in the hold; drones and satellite phones are off-limits in either. Bottles cap out at 100 millilitres apiece, bagged clear for the scanner. One local wrinkle: banknotes worth INR 500 can’t cross into Nepal or Bhutan, only INR 100 and smaller.

Changing terminals

Connecting passengers should allow enough time to clear baggage recheck if it isn’t through-tagged; domestic-to-domestic transit needs a valid onward ticket, and international transit needs a visa if leaving the secure area. Lounge access on the ground is limited to passengers departing on domestic flights.

Accessibility

Eight airlines confirm wheelchair assistance at Terminal 1 — Air India, Akasa Air, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Alliance Air, Air India Express, Thai AirAsia and Druk Air — through a PRM Helpdesk (Terminal Manager’s office for departures, the help desk for arrivals) and a shared helpline. Braille-marked help phones sit at Arrivals, the Security Check Area and Departures, and a dedicated accessible parking space sits directly in front of the terminal.
