Getting around NWI
Norwich is Norfolk’s own airport, four miles north of the city centre, and remarkably still a single terminal — extended four times since it became a limited company in 1987. Regional & City Airports, the same group behind Bournemouth and Exeter, runs it, and every departing passenger aged 16 and over pays a £10 Airport Development Fee that has funded the airport since 2007. KLM’s several daily flights to Amsterdam are the real hub link to the world; Loganair adds a year-round Aberdeen route and a summer-only Jersey service; and Ryanair, flying from Norwich only since 2024, now serves Alicante, Faro and Malta. The airport’s real specialty is winter, though: Transun and Newmarket Holidays run seasonal charters to Lapland every Christmas, alongside TUI’s sun routes to Corfu, Crete, Rhodes and the Canaries. Security screening keeps the pre-2024 100 ml liquids limit and the clear resealable bag, unlike the airports nearby that have since scrapped it.
