Getting around ZRH
Zurich works as one connected airport complex: three check-in areas feed four gate areas, A, B, D and E. Gates A and B handle Schengen departures; D and E are for non-Schengen flights. The unusual part is E, a satellite dock reached underground by the non-stop Skymetro from A, B or D in a few minutes — the airport’s own building record puts the ride at three minutes. Landside, the railway station sits below Check-in 3, with long-distance trains continuing beyond Zurich to cities including Bern and Basel. In 2025, 32.6 million passengers passed through ZRH, an airport record.
