Passenger Terminal
Bologna has one passenger terminal, open around the clock, and it splits by floor rather than by building: all 44 airlines share the same ground-floor check-in hall, and everyone climbs to the first floor for security and boarding. That first floor is also where the Marconi Express monorail comes in from Bologna Centrale station, so arriving passengers who took the train and departing passengers headed for it use the same level as the boarding gates.
Ground floor, to the left of the main entrance — one hall for every airline. Tour-operator desks are numbered 101 to 107 inside that same check-in area; ticketing offices for the rest of the airlines sit nearby, also on the ground floor.
After checking in, go up to the first floor for security; passengers who already checked in online and have no hold bag can head straight to the first-floor checkpoints. Automatic ABC e-gates now scan biometric passports — the airport recommends every passport holder over 14 use them, even on routes that would not otherwise require a passport.
The Marconi Express station is reached from the first floor: departing passengers cross the connecting walkway to reach it, arriving passengers follow the signs from the platform back up to the first floor and into the terminal.
Reserved parking at the main entrance on both the ground and first floor, and in the P2 multi-storey car park. A staffed special-assistance reception sits on the ground floor in the check-in area; three Sala Amica waiting rooms are split across the building — two on the first floor (one before security, one after, in the Schengen boarding area) and one airside on the ground floor near the gate. Lifts carry Braille pushbuttons and acoustic announcements, a magnetic hearing-aid amplifier is fitted at the ground-floor information desk, and ambulifts handle boarding and disembarking on the tarmac. Arriving passengers with reduced mobility are escorted as far as the taxi rank, the bus stops and the P2 car park. Tell the airline when you book, or with at least 48 hours’ notice before the flight leaves; passengers should still be at one of the airport contact points — Help Phone, the special-assistance reception, their check-in desk, or the P2 Parking Office (open 24/7) — at least two hours and thirty minutes ahead.
