Getting around BOM

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport runs on two terminals with no airside link between them: Terminal 1, the all-domestic building on the site of the old Santacruz airport, and Terminal 2, the international terminal everyone still calls by its old name, Sahar. The split is not simply domestic-versus-international — Air India and Air India Express fly only from T2, even domestically, while IndiGo, Akasa Air and SpiceJet divide their domestic schedules between both terminals by flight number. Changing terminals means the free Inter-Terminal Coach, running 24/7 roughly every 25 minutes; the airport’s own guidance is to allow 2 to 3 hours for a domestic connection that switches terminal and 3 to 4 hours if either leg is international. Each terminal also has its own Mumbai Metro Line 3 station — “CSMIA Airport T1” and “CSMIA Airport T2” are separate stops. In FY2024-25 the airport handled 55.12 million passengers, and it remains, by its own account, the world’s busiest single-runway airport.

Two stations, two terminals
Mumbai Metro Line 3 stops separately at CSMIA Airport T1 and CSMIA Airport T2 — pick the one that matches your terminal.
Changing terminals
No airside link: the free 24/7 coach runs about every 25 minutes, and the airport advises 2–4 hours if your connection crosses terminals.
Lounges on both sides
Loyalty, business-class and pay-per-use lounges in T1 and T2 — plus a transit hotel inside T2 for a real layover sleep.
