Inside each terminal

Check-in, security, the station link and how to change terminals — verified against the airport's own pages.

Terminal 1

The domestic terminal, built on the site of the original Santacruz airport. By the airport’s own airline directory, Alliance Air and Star Air fly from here exclusively; IndiGo, Akasa Air and SpiceJet also use T1, but only for some of their domestic flights — the other half of each of those three airlines’ schedules leaves from T2, so the terminal is decided by flight number, not by carrier.

Security

DigiYatra facial-recognition check-in is not available here yet — the airport’s own DigiYatra page limits it to domestic departures from Terminal 2, Gate 2.

From the train & tram station

The nearest suburban railway station is Vile Parle (East); BEST bus route 312 connects the terminal to both Vile Parle (East) and Andheri (East) stations. Mumbai Metro Line 3 also has its own “CSMIA Airport T1” station.

Changing terminals

Terminal 2 is a landside-only transfer — there is no airside walk between the two buildings. The free Inter-Terminal Coach runs 24/7 with a departure roughly every 25 minutes; the airport’s own transit guide recommends allowing 2 to 3 hours for a domestic-to-domestic connection that changes terminal, and 3 to 4 hours if either leg is international.

Accessibility

Wheelchair support has its own desk at the kerbside outside Departure Gate 2, and help phones are posted across arrivals, the security hold area and departures. Book the wheelchair through your airline in advance; paid private mobility assistance runs on a separate T1 phone line.

Terminal 2

The international terminal (locals still call it by its old name, Sahar), a three-level building that also handles every Air India and Air India Express flight — domestic included — plus the domestic flights IndiGo, Akasa Air and SpiceJet route here instead of T1. Every foreign carrier operating to Mumbai uses this terminal.

Check-in

DigiYatra facial-recognition check-in works only for domestic departures, and only at Gate 2 — international departures and every flight at T1 still use standard check-in.

From the train & tram station

The nearest suburban railway station is Andheri (East); BEST bus routes 321 and 308 serve the terminal. Mumbai Metro Line 3 has its own “CSMIA Airport T2” station, separate from the T1 one.

Changing terminals

Reaching Terminal 1 means leaving the building and taking the free 24/7 Inter-Terminal Coach (about every 25 minutes) — there is no airside connection. The airport’s own guidance is to allow 3 to 4 hours for an international connection and 2 to 3 hours for a domestic one if the terminal changes.

Accessibility

The equivalent desk for Terminal 2 sits at the kerbside outside Departure Gate 1, with the same network of help phones through arrivals, the security hold area and departures. In 2025 CSMIA became the first airport in India — and third in the world — to reach ACI’s Level 5 Airport Customer Experience Accreditation.
