Does Geneva Airport still give arriving passengers a free public transport ticket?

Accepted Answer

No — not any more. The airport’s own FAQ confirms that since 1 January 2022, the free Unireso bus/train ticket it used to hand arriving passengers has been withdrawn. Today you buy a zone-10 Unireso ticket instead: CHF 3.00 (about €2.60), valid 60 minutes on both tpg buses and CFF trains, from machines at the “Genève Aéroport” and “WTC” bus stops or at the CFF station. Hotel, hostel and campsite guests can still get a free Geneva Transport Card from their accommodation, covering the same zone.

How do I reach the France Sector by road from France?

Accepted Answer

Only via the Ferney-Voltaire customs road — pedestrians and cyclists cannot use it. Set your GPS to town “Ferney Voltaire”, street “Route douanière”, and once through customs follow the “Aéroport Secteur France” signs to the terminal entrance. It is also where car park P20 sits, a 5-minute walk from the terminal.

I landed on an international flight — can I just walk out on the French side?

Accepted Answer

No. Genève Aéroport’s own FAQ is explicit: if you arrived on an international flight, you must clear Swiss territory first — collect your bags, pass Swiss customs, go back up to the Enregistrement level, then follow the “Secteur France” signs. Only passengers arriving on a France Sector flight disembark directly into it, as on a domestic flight.

Can I stay inside the terminal overnight if I have an early flight?

Accepted Answer

No — Terminal 1 closes every night from 00:00 to 04:00 for security reasons, and the France Sector’s road access closes too (roughly 00:30 to 04:00). If you are flying very early or landing very late, book accommodation nearby rather than planning to wait it out inside.

Is the official valet (voiturier) service mandatory at Geneva Airport?

No. You can park in P1, P26 or P51 without ever using a valet, with or without a ResaPark reservation. The two officially licensed valet partners — Airportparking and easy-park.ch — are an optional paid convenience, both based at P1, level -3.

How fast is the train from the airport into Geneva?

Accepted Answer

Seven minutes to Geneva-Cornavin, non-stop — the CFF station sits directly under the terminal, about a 5-minute walk from Departures and Arrivals, with up to seven trains an hour at peak times. Every train calls at Cornavin, so onward connections across Switzerland (and into France via TGV) start from there.
